I was born and raised in rural, northern Wisconsin. From a young age, I can see how God's hand was upon my life, drawing me to Himself and developing within me a heart for the peoples of the world to know Him.
I graduated from the University of Northwestern (previously Northwestern College, St. Paul, MN) in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Biology. My original plans of pursuing medical missions were being slowly redirected, and a couple years after graduation, the Lord brought me to a place where my desires had been set aside and I was open to whatever He would lead. That's when a very clear door opened for me to spend the next two years serving with a church in northeast Thailand.
Halfway through that time, at a church family camp, I was placed in a group with a guy who had been serving in another part of Thailand for almost as long as I had been. He returned to his home in Indiana just a few days later, but our brief introduction to each other was enough to start our long distance dating relationship. We were engaged having only spent 18 days together in person (but a lot of time on skype and facebook!), and two became one on September 14, 2013.
During our first year of marriage, we began praying for God's leading for us as a couple. We were open to going anywhere, but it started to become clear that God was opening the doors for us to return again to a country and a people we had both experienced and come to love. We returned to Thailand, together, in January 2016. We are so thankful for God's provision and calling, and in this county with such great need for the transforming work of Christ, the least reached country in Southeast Asia with the gospel, our hope is in the promises of God: "All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name." Psalm 86:9
The Creative Center, Chiang Mai
The Creative Center is a community center located in urban Chiang Mai among the majority Thai Buddhist people. We focus on families, youth and children in the surrounding community by providing educational and creative opportunities through music, English tutoring, community dinners, and other community building activities. The Creative Center is strategic in being open with our faith in Christ, being light and salt to these people and fostering communication about God and Jesus. We want to facilitate communities of Christ followers among these unreached Thai Nationals ? those passionate about their faith and who will lead in their communities and beyond.
