Ken and Marilyn Coover
In 2017 we had the opportunity on a short term trip to provide childcare for workers living overseas. For one week these missionary moms and dads could entrust their kids to us and attend worship together and be trained to serve well in their area of the world. They serve in difficult places where people are often hardened or even hostile to the Gospel. Seeing the relief and gratitude on the parents faces as they entrusted their precious ones to us solidified our call as husband and wife to support long term missionaries.
Then God brought a missionary family to stay in our church's mission house. Their daughter Sophie had been raised in N.A. and home-schooled her entire life. She excitedly shared with me that she was going to get to go to High School in Germany at Black Forest Academy! I joined in her excitement and asked her to tell me more. She then told me that she was sad because her friends didn't get in to BFA because they did not have enough dorm parents....my heart was broken. Not only did her friends not get to attend BFA but their parents had to come off the field in the middle east. These are families who have invested years of their lives learning the language and forming relationships that allow them to share the Gospel. The reality is that taking care of the educational needs of their children is one of the leading causes of missionaries leaving the field.
By financially supporting us as dorm parents at BFA through TEAM, YOU can personally help long term missionaries stay in their place of service proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Please join us in caring for missionaries and their families!
Black Forest Academy is an international boarding school for missionary kids that gives a highly academic Christian education taught in English. We live alongside 20 high school students as they attend High School and prepare to make the transition to universities in the US.
