Contributions to TEAM of Canada can be made in a number of ways.
TEAM ACT : Pre-Authorized Payments
Pre-Authorized Payments, which we call TEAM ACT, is a service that authorizes TEAM to deduct your gifts automatically from your chequing or savings account. TEAM ACT saves you time and money, avoiding postage and cheque costs and ensuring that your cheques won't be delayed or lost in the mail. It also helps TEAM achieve better stewardship of your gifts by reducing processing time and costs, plus there is no fee assessed as there is in credit card contributions.
To register for ACT, you will need to fill out, print, and mail or fax the form to TEAM Calgary office. Here's how:
- Click here to open the TEAM PAPP registration form.
- Fill the form in completely with your personal and bank information. We especially need your phone number so we can call you if we have any questions.
- Indicate the amount you would like to contribute.
- Your donation will be withdrawn on the last business day of the month.
- Print the form out.
- Read the agreement on the form and then sign and date the form. Because of the signature requirement, we cannot accept online submissions.
- Return the completed form with one of the following:
- If using your chequing account -- we will need a voided blank cheque (no deposit slips, please).
- If using your savings account -- we will need a savings deposit slip.
Your first automatic deduction will appear in approximately six weeks. You will receive a letter confirming that TEAM Canada has enrolled you in this plan and the date of the first deduction. A record of each deduction will appear on your monthly bank statement. You will continue to receive a receipt from TEAM each month. You can discontinue your monthly deductions at any time by calling the TEAM Stewardship Ministries office.

Gifts of Financial Securities
Good stewardship includes wise planning. Wise planning allows people to give more to the Lord's work. Those who own securities and who want to make substantial gifts to any of TEAM Canada’s ministries have a number of ways to help. If you have securities with long-term capital gains, Canadian tax law allows donors to give appreciated securities and deduct the full market value as a charitable contribution. TEAM can sell the securities without paying capital gains taxes.
For example, you own 1,000 shares of a growing corporation. You bought the shares at $5 per share many years ago. The market value is now about $10 per share. If you were to sell the shares, there would be a tax on 50% of the capital gain of $5 per share, or $5000. By giving the stock directly to TEAM, the donor can deduct the entire $10,000 as a charitable deduction and pay tax on only 25% of the capital gain of $5 per share. If the securities are now worth less than you paid for them, the wise thing to do is sell the securities and give the cash. This allows you to claim the loss on your taxes and then to deduct the amount of the gift as a charitable deduction if you itemize.
Please discuss with your Investment Broker or Tax Accountant to be aware of all tax implications before donating. It is fairly simple to make a stock contribution or give shares of a mutual fund.
